iPad Pro came to market with business users in mind, and clearly something Apple was thinking about for a while. iOS 9 added many power users features like split screen and a medley of keyboard shortcuts. It all came together when Apple released the Smart Keyboard.

This is an independent review. NOT a paid endorsement

The Smart Keyboard seems very well thought out. It is absurdly thin, at around 3.9mm for the non-key parts of the keyboard. The keys themselves are gapless which means nothing will spill between them, and the fabric is water and stain resistant so it will hold up for use and abuse.

Probably the best part, similar to the Surface, is that you don't have to charge the keyboard. It plugs in using a new Smart Connector on the side of the iPad Pro. It is unnoticeable and discreet and solves battery and pairing issues that plague other keyboards.

Unfortunately not everything is rosy. It still adds a lot of weight (like any keyboard would). The top doesn't lay flat but is instead slightly offset. Which feels very un-Apple. And they keys are quite shallow which takes some getting used to.

Long story short, if you can overlook the price tag, the Smart Keyboard may be worth a shot.
