Apple's Retina MacBook doesn't include anything other than a single USB-C port for all the I/O (headphone jack excluded). That means it does the data and power for your machine. We've looked at many hubs, but recently Satechi updated their original hub that was very fast to market.

This is an independent review. NOT a paid endorsement

The body is pretty much the same as the last generation model, it does however add passthrough charging which is really the only reason to upgrade, or pay the 10 dollar price difference between it, and its older brethren.

Pros

  • 2 USB ports
  • Compact
  • Passthrough charging
  • Matching anodization
  • Affordable (compared to first party options)

Cons

  • Gets warm
  • Doesn't work with cases
  • Easy to dislodge
